Sorry to bother you both but, can I talk with you? There's been something in my mind lately and I would like your opinions on the matter.

He hasn't dropped by Minato's house since he met Junpei yesterday, he just doesn't know how to look at Minato so he has chosen to avoid him for a bit. He will dedicate his day to visit the flowershop, remembering that girl turned into an airship from the experiment back in January, it has been a while since it happened but... February was too chaotic for him to remember that he wanted to check on her. He will also drop by the Welcome Center to help anyone who may need it there. And the library.

Some did. The point wasn't to help humanity, or anything like that. We didn't learn this until much later, but Kirijo wanted to cause the 'Fall'. That is.... to end the world by calling down Nyx, the being responsible for creating death in the first place.

... I don't think anything that ends creating a Shadow named Death is for the good of anyone...

[He listens anyway. People doing a research and ending wanting to trigger an event that causes the end of the world... Sounds pretty familiar even if this is big scale like.]

... Wait, you said it was Mitsuru-senpai's grandfather who was in charge, right? Then that happened when you were just a kid, is your world post-apocalyptic? Or did something happen that interrupted the process? I had thought that your world was rather normal.

[he shakes his head] It's normal... One of the scientists realized what was happening. But the only way he could stop it was to cause an explosion and releasing Death.

How did that stop it? I just can't imagine anything with the name of Death on it to be something good to have hanging around the world without care.

The explosion created the Dark Hour. [...] It's like a thirteenth hour that happened every midnight. Only Shadows and Persona-users are active during it... everyone else doesn't realize it exists. Death escaped into that but it was weakened, and it fell apart into 13 smaller Shadows. But now it couldn't cause the Fall.

But that just created another problem, right? With the Dark Hour... Weren't Shadows dangerous for people then? Or was it like another dimension and they couldn't affect normal people?

Right... Shadows were still dangerous. When too many were active people started getting 'Apathy Syndrome.' ...They basically lost all will to live or even speak.

[What's up with the syndromes.]

And you guys fought those Shadows during the Dark Hour with your Personas... You told me what a Persona was but how do they enter in game here?

After the accident Mitsuru-senpai's father tried to use the Kirijo group to fix things... Mitsuru wanted to also, so she found other Persona users and formed SEES. That's how we eventually came together.

Yeah, I don't know her much but she strikes me as the type who would want to do that and work hard for it.

[He nods and keeps listening. What else?]

When the accident happened we were still living in Port Island. [...] The night Death escaped, Aigis chased it and cornered it on a bridge. [Keiichi should recognize that name.]

I don't remember this now, but the fight destroyed our car. Aigis couldn't win against Death... so instead she sealed it inside the only person at the scene.

After that she broke down and didn't come online until we found her 10 years later.

[So it wasn't an accident after all... Or rather it was but not a mere car accident. It was worse... Death sealed inside of him, that's... He doesn't know what to say, there's nothing to say, so he just nods again.]

I moved away and stayed with different relatives. Eventually I decided to move back and... well you know this part. I found out about Personas, and fought with SEES.

Once I - or Death - came back though, the other Shadows started becoming active again.

Death was divided into smaller Shadows, right? So with you returning, since Death was inside you, the other parts noticed it and reacted to it?

[nod.] They were causing the Apathy Syndrome cases to rise too, so we fought them all.

But... If part of Death was inside you...

[How did you defeat it? Or is that why you're dead now?]

We didn't know that yet. We thought defeating the Shadows would end the Dark Hour. [...] But the man who told us that tricked us. He really wanted us to bring the Shadows together again, and revive Death completely. That would cause the Fall.
